Hi everyone!
Just a brief update about this week - as we noted in your Welcome Package, there is NO rehearsal this week because big Xara is in tech week for our new show Fatty Legs!
However, big Xara is opening up our Tuesday night rehearsal for you to come and watch if you'd like to see the show! It would be great if anyone who is interested in coming could arrive at 7pm. You're welcome to leave whenever you like as long as you aren't disrupting the rehearsal. If you need to arrive earlier than 7pm, please just send me an email to let me know when you will be coming. It's all happening at our usual rehearsal venue, St. Matthew's.
This is an optional activity but we'd love to see lots of you there! If you/you and your parents would also like to purchase tickets to come and see the show on Friday or Saturday nights, we can sell you tickets that evening at rehearsal. You can pay via cash or cheque. Tickets are $25 adult, $15 student, $10 children 12 and under. Online tickets are also available! You can check out more details about the show by checking out our Facebook event.
We really encourage as many of you as possible to come either on Tuesday night, or to one of the shows this weekend. This is truly a remarkable piece of choral theatre that I think you will find really inspiring, moving, and breathtaking. As well, the mentors and Jenny would love to see you in the audience! :)
We'll be back to regular rehearsals on Tuesday May 5th. Any questions in the meantime, please let me know!

Homework for Tuesday April 21
Hi everyone!
Thank you for a wonderful rehearsal last night! I'm so pleased that we got through all the blocking and had so much fun with our new friends. Thank you for being such great Xara Ambassadors and welcoming our Open House guests! Hopefully some of them will want to join us in the fall!
Next week's rehearsal is the first one that will extend until 9:15 pm. We will make really efficient use of time and make sure we get lots of work done. We'll be reviewing blocking for the whole show, including solidifying transitions, and going over all the music. Please remember that you are to have The Tiger memorized for next week! As well, I'd like you to have all text and blocking up until the end of Scene 5 memorized for next week.

However, we would like to offer you the opportunity to see a preview of big Xara's newest show "Fatty Legs". It will take place at St. Matthew's United Church, our regular location. If you're interested in coming, please let us know next week! It's not mandatory but is an opportunity for you to see big Xara and our special guests in action.
In addition, we will be doing school performances of Fatty Legs this May at the following schools: Dartmouth High, Lockview, and Citadel (with more perhaps being announced soon!)

Homework for April 14 + Schedule Update
Hi everyone!
A few important reminders regarding upcoming rehearsals:
Tuesday April 14 is our Bring a Friend/Open House Night! This is designed to help others learn what XYE is all about, in the hopes that some of them might audition for us next year! We will do some fun music and movement activities, teach everyone who is there that night the hallway movement score/soundscape, and then rehearse scenes from Here I Stand. That way everyone will get a chance to participate, as well as see a sneak peek of what an XYE show looks like!
The Facebook event for the Open House is here. Please share with others and invite anyone you know who might be interested! We'd love to have lots of people attend!
Rehearsal Schedules
Due to our small number of singers this term, it makes a big difference when we have several singers missing. Last night with only five singers present, we couldn't make any progress on blocking the show (though we still had a productive rehearsal!) We are growing a little concerned that we are falling behind, and we want to make sure that this show is as amazing as it deserves to be!!!
So that being said, we are making a few tweaks for the remainder of our rehearsal period:

- The following rehearsals will be extended by 30 minutes in order to make up for the time we have lost:
- Tuesday April 21, 6:15-9:15 pm
- Tuesday May 12, 6:15-9:15 pm
- Tuesday May 19, 6:15-9:15 pm
- Tuesday May 26, 6:15-9:15 pm
- Tuesday June 2, 6:15-9:15 pm
- The rehearsal on Tuesday April 21 will be our huge blocking rehearsal where we intend to finish blocking all of the scenes for the show. This rehearsal is MANDATORY for singers.
- If you intend to have any absences for the rest of the term, you must let me know within the next week VIA EMAIL. It is very difficult to plan rehearsals if people are missing last minute or they send a message with a friend. Please be respectful and let us know in advance if you have an unavoidable conflict. That being said, we understand that illness or extenuating circumstances happen - please just make sure to let us know via email.

We are really looking forward to this show and know it is going to be amazing! We need to all pull together and work to make sure that we blow away our audience on June 6th!

Great work to those of you who have sold lollipops this last week! Keep at it, and if you sell out and would like more, send me an email before next Tuesday!

Our Open House rehearsal is in two weeks! Spread the word, share the Facebook event, and let people know how awesome Xara Youth Ensemble is. We'd love to have a big turn out at this event to encourage auditions for next year!
