Homework for Tues March 3rd!

Hi everyone,

What an amazing and inspiring rehearsal last night! Thank you everyone for your hard work, and open hearts and minds during our discussion. You are an incredibly special group of young women and we are so grateful to get to make art with you every week!!!

As you know, our performance on March 7th is rapidly approaching! For next week's rehearsal, all music for that performance must be memorized. Here's the list:

• Sih'r Khalaq
• Mad World
• Be Like the Bird
• Sure on this Shining Night
• You are the New Day
• One Voice
• Warrior
• Lanterns

That is a lot of music but we know that you will have a Beyonce week and have it performance ready by next Tuesday!

In addition, you must have your song introduction prepared for Tuesday because we will be practicing those at rehearsal. Please come with your intro written down, and make sure to connect with your partner this week if you are speaking in a group of two.

Homework for Tues Feb 24!

Hi everyone!

Thank you for a great rehearsal last night! We are really excited about our performance on March 7th, and to be moving forward at such a great rate on all of our pieces of music!

Here's your homework for this week:

• Sih'r Khalaq memorized
• Mad World memorized

Next week we are going to be doing a full read through of the script in addition to working on our pieces for the March 7th performance!

Reminder that next week we are back at St Matthew's United Church, our regular rehearsal venue.

Also reminder to please notify me of all absences of rehearsals or other events ASAP via EMAIL!

Update for Tues Feb 17

Hi everyone!

With the news that HRSB has closed schools, we are going to hope that we can still hold rehearsal tomorrow evening at Bethany United Church, 7171 Clinton Ave. With another 24 hours for the road crews to do their work, we are hoping that driving will be possible by tomorrow evening! However, as always, we leave it to your discretion and if you do not feel safe driving in, we completely understand. Please just let us know via email.

We’ll confirm tomorrow midday once we hear what the city is advising regarding the roads.

Homework for Tues Feb 17!

Hi everyone!

Great rehearsal on Tuesday night - we made excellent progress on all of our music and we are so excited to keep taking this ensemble to the next level :)

Here's what we discussed for homework this week:

• Sih'r Khalaq memorized up to letter C
• Adiemus and You are the New Day VERY solid

Remember to consult the Soundcloud for recordings of all of these pieces!

Solo Auditions

Next week we will be holding solo auditions at break for the following songs:

Mad World (first section)
You are the New Day (duet for the first two measures)

Anyone who is interested, please look over these parts and come ready to try them at rehearsal! We'll also go over them as a group before we do the solo auditions so everyone has a chance to feel really familiar with them. We encourage everyone to try out!!!!

Next Week's Rehearsal - Venue Change

Next week's rehearsal will take place at Bethany United Church, 7171 Clinton Ave (right by the Armdale Rotary). Please enter through the doors off the Clinton Ave. parking lot.

Tuition

Reminder that XYE tuition is now past due. If you have not submitted your tuition, please do so via cash or cheque made out to "Xara Choral Theatre" by next Tuesday. Tuition is $250.

Attendance

Please notify Claire via EMAIL if you know you will be missing any rehearsals due to travel or other commitments. The further in advance we know, the easier for rehearsal planning. As we discussed last night, with a small group it means that we really notice when someone isn't there!!

March 7

Just a reminder that we do have our first performance of the term on Saturday, March 7th at the Keshen-Goodman Public Library at 2:30 pm. The call time will be 1pm.

Rehearsal Tonight (Feb 10) is ON!

Just wanted to let you know that rehearsal tonight is on as per usual. We know that some of the roads are getting a little slippery, so please use your discretion. If you’re unable to come into the city tonight for rehearsal due to weather, we absolutely understand - please just send us an email or give me a call at 902-223-7828 to let us know.

Great rehearsal on Tuesday night! Thank you Jenny for leading our music session and mentors for your excellent and fun activities! :)

For this week, please review all four pieces that we worked on - Warrior, Like a Rainbow, You are the New Day, and Mad World. There are recordings of the first three on our Soundcloud, including individual voicing tracks for Warrior (S1, S2, A). Please make use of these recordings - Warrior, in particular, should be feeling solid by the time we see you next week!

Tuition

Tuition is due NEXT WEEK Tuesday, February 10th at rehearsal. Reminder that tuition is $250 and can be paid in cash, cheque, or money order. Please make all cheques out to "Xara Choral Theatre". If you require a receipt, please let me know. If you would like to set up a payment plan for your tuition, please feel free to send me an email and we can coordinate with our treasurer.
