Homework for Tuesday March 31!

Hi everyone!

What an excellent rehearsal last night!! I'm so thrilled about how far we got with the blocking, and our new song "The Tiger" is sounding great!

For this week, please look over the songs that we worked on last night (The Tiger, Like a Rainbow, Adiemus). You can hear recordings on the last two songs on our Soundcloud to help you practice. Also - Sih'r Khalaq was pretty rough last night after two weeks of not performing it - so make sure to review your memory work on that piece before next week! :)

For next week, your homework is to have your lines and cue lines for the first two scenes memorized! Almost everyone has lines in those scenes so I'm expecting everyone to come super solid on those next week.

Lollipop Fundraiser

To review what we went over last night, everyone has received 20 lollipops to sell as an XYE fundraiser. The price is $1 each - just put the money you collect in the ziploc bag you received. We will check in with you later this week to see who needs more lollipops for next Tuesday! Any questions, please let us know!

"Bring a Friend" Night - April 14!

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all safe and warm during this GIANT snowfall!! For those of you who are still away...get ready for a big wintery welcome!

I wanted to let you know now about a fun night we're going to be hosting this spring at XYE - "Bring a Friend" Night on Tuesday April 14! It's like an open house night for XYE - any girls in grades 8-11 are welcome to come to our rehearsal, take part in our activities and see what XYE is like! If you know anyone who you think would be a great fit for XYE, you can invite them to come to rehearsal with you and try it out!

We're hoping that this will be a great way to get new girls interested in joining the ensemble in September. If our "friends" like XYE, they can set up an audition this spring to start XYE in September.

Since XYE does have an age limit, it would be best to invite friends who will be going into grades 9-12 next year. You can bring as many people as you want!

Start spreading the word to your singing, dancing, and acting inclined friends!! I'm going to make a Facebook invitation in the next few days so you can send it out to your buds!

March Break Homework

Hi everyone!

Thank you to those who could make it last night for a productive rehearsal!! :)

A quick reminder that there is NO rehearsal next week, March 17th. Our next rehearsal will be Tuesday March 24th back at St. Matthew's United Church.

You're all in luck because there isn't TOO much homework over the break, since we have several of our pieces already memorized! :) For homework we'd like you to read over the whole Here I Stand script at least three times, and when you arrive at rehearsal on March 24th, Scene 1 needs to be memorized!! So make sure to be running your lines for that scene over the break, and don't forget to memorize your cue lines!

I hope you all have a wonderful March break, and for those of you who are travelling, be safe!

Much love to you all and we will see you on March 24!

Notes for Tuesday March 10

Hi everyone!!

What an amazing performance on Saturday! We have heard wonderful feedback from audience members and we are so proud of you!!

For this Tuesday's rehearsal, we will be rehearsing at Bethany United Church, 7171 Clinton Ave. There is a concert in the sanctuary at St Matthew's, so that is why we need to relocate!

We will be working on creative teams, finishing the read through of the script, and continuing to work on the music for the show!

Nova Scotia Youth Choir Auditions

Every year, the Nova Scotia Choral Federation runs a program called the Nova Scotia Youth Choir for talented singers ages 16-25. This is an amazing opportunity for young singers to learn challenging and beautiful music, work with great conductors, and meet other awesome people from all over the province. This year's guest conductor is Kellie Walsh from Newfoundland - a huge supporter of Xara and an AMAZING person to work with!!

Myself, Christina, Tenille, and many other members of big Xara have been involved with the choir over the years and it was an unforgettable experience for us. We highly recommend the program!!! Auditions are March 27-29th and all the info is on their website. I will bring brochures to rehearsal on Tuesday night as well! We want to see Xara represented in the choir again this year!!
